The International Freeform Crochet Group has done a challenge exhibition each year beginning in 2006. Each challenge has a theme that the members decide on democratically. The challenge is open to anyone in the FFCrochet Yahoo group. I have participated in all challenges through 2021, with the exception of 2008, which I've always regretted. The first challenge was different from the others in a couple of respects: the participants all used the same yarns, with each participant contributing one type of yarn. Beginning in 2009 the challenges were online only. Each challenge has an associated book that can be ordered online, and its proceeds are sent to a charity that the group chooses, again democratically.
