Queen Lula

Queen Lula's dress is made with very simple rows of single crochet in the back loops. I like the interesting textural and color effects of this simple technique, especially when using many types and colors of yarn. On alternate rows, the yarn shows a lot on the wrong side and just a bit on the right side, which can be used to include a very bold color that only shows a little bit, or a very fluffy yarn that just peeks out. I gave her to my friend Joanna McCaffrey several years after her creation, when Joanna moved to Florida for a year.
